Using Mental Skills to Deal With Health Issues
Recently had a malignant melanoma removed followed by a CT scan. Although the scan was clear the medical advice is to have the original area widened out further plus have 4 other moles removed plus one on my eyelid. Also to have my Sentinel Lymph Node removed and sent for a biopsy.
In preparing for all this it occurred to me that my background in mental skills could be used in a practical way to assist me through the process. My initial thoughts are that the key skills I can use are likely to include Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy ( CBT ), Neuro Linguistic Programming ( NLP ), Brain Activity Exercises, Modern Applied Psychology ( MAP ), Resilience plus many other skills that may be required.
So as the situation unfolds it is my plan to use this Blog to share my experiences and comment on what techniques I use, how I use them and what works ( and doesn't ! ). Also the Blog will run 2/3 times a week dependent on what is happening regarding visits to Hospital and the Mental Skills I am using.
