Coaching continues to be the most popular part of our services

Since the last update a number of things have taken place;

Coaching continues to be the most popular part of our services. In part this is because a commitment to coaching sends out a different message to sending someone on a training course. Vital and useful as training courses are, delegates are often not briefed beforehand or debriefed afterwards. In addition practice opportunity is not utilised to allow delegates to further develop their skills. Coaching on the other hand because it is work based, and spread over a period of time, allows participants to practice, develop and embed their skills, while carrying out their normal job.

Another topic that frequently crops up is the validity, in today’s world of Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs. This is a topic that seems to have been covered on every management course since time immemorial. Therefore I was delighted to find a new book based upon the Maslow model, ‘Climbing Maslow’s Pyramid’ by Paul W King, published by Matador. The book seems to be partly a personal journey and partly an exhortation to lead a more structured life. While this is a laudable aim which I think most of us would aspire to, for me, the book didn’t really help to fully link the Maslow model into day to day life. However for anyone interested in improving their quality of life, the book provides food for thought.
