Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

Neuro Linguistic Programming utilises the connection between how the brain works ('neuro'), how the brain’s processes are expressed by language ('linguistic') and the patterns of behaviour that people use ('programming') in order to create ‘rapport’ and be more effective.

Neuro Linguistic Programming was developed in the early 1970s and was based on the study of people who were highly effective in their field. It looked at how these people worked and what it was that made them so successful. In many cases, the person in question didn’t know what it was they were doing. They were doing it naturally.

There are a number of Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques which can assist in a business situation. For example, matching a persons’ body posture and tone of voice can help you to develop rapport with them. Similarly, techniques such as ‘anchoring’, which uses positive thought to overcome phobias and anxiety, can help develop confidence for public speaking.

Many Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques, such as visualisation and mental rehearsal are regularly used in sport and form an integral part of training programmes in professional sport.

As an individual, Neuro Linguistic Programming can help you to become more effective, both personally and professionally by helping you to:

  • Make a postive impact
  • Create rapport
  • Communicate effectively
  • Establish what motivates people

Ted's NLP workshops use a range of techniques to help businesses across all training areas including:

  • Interview and selection
  • Personal development
  • Team building
  • Communication
  • Leadership
  • Influencing skills
  • Negotiating skills
